In addition to the masterful plot twists and surprises, I found his choice to use a female main character a pleasant surprise. Talia made for a great CIA officer, and I was glad to see she was relatable and not one of those main characters that everything works out for them. She had issues to face, all while doing her job. Just like the rest of us.
I also appreciated the author's skill of writing humor. It is not an easy thing to do. Many times humor falls flat on the page, but not so in this book. It helped break the tension well and make the characters likable.
